How do you build a B2B ecommerce solution that allows users to fully customise their uniforms?

Summary

How do you build a B2B ecommerce solution that allows users to fully customise their uniforms?

Objective

Established since 2017, Bulk Workwear is a customised workwear printer based in Blackburn. The founder had created accounts with more than 2,000 SMEs across the United Kingdom through a strong sales-led approach, with Hamari brought into suggest ideas about how we could lead the digital transformation of the business.

The company was relying solely on the execution of its outbound sales team to generate new leads. This meant that each new sales executive would need weeks of training before they start generating revenue.

Secondly, the MD had tried to outsource the development of the company’s e-commerce site to a previous agency. However, this particular team wasn’t able to deliver on some of the complex pricing features of the application, which were vital for the e-commerce shop to generate sales.

Our brief was to develop an online presence that generated more revenue through online sales, reduced the time and complexity involved in bringing in new clients and expanded the company’s presence into new European markets.

User Driven Approach

Rather than try and fix what had gone wrong, we started the e-commerce project again from scratch. We started by developing a user story for both the client and their target customers, creating short statements that defined their goals and reasons for performing tasks on the new site.

The goal was to create a product backlog capable of fully describing the functionality we needed to add to the project over the course of the development cycle. We also selected an e-commerce platform capable of delivering all the features the client required within their budget, settling on Opencart.

As the pricing structure of the new site was fairly complex, Hamari created bespoke Opencart module capable of managing the impact of price changes on other aspects of the e-commerce store, such as the checkout and invoicing pages. Once each user story was completed we worked closely with Bulk Workwear to test its viability, ensuring the features worked seamlessly within the new store.

Customer Experience Delivering Growth

The result was an e-commerce solution which allows businesses to order custom workwear through a web-based shop, taking into account a customised pricing feature which allows for bulk pricing and set-up costs for uploading new logos.

Customers can now see:

  • Where they would like their logo applied

  • What colours and quantities they would like

  • Prices generated in real-time

Bulk Workwear is now focusing on executing its inbound marketing strategy, fueling its growth. The site provides a central touchpoint for new customers at the beginning of the relationship, providing reassurance in the company’s ability to deliver on its promise of easy-to-order bespoke workwear.

What they said

Before we came to Hamari, a previous agency had encountered real problems trying to implement our customised pricing requirements. Fareed and his team took everything in their stride and reassured us from the start that they would be able to deliver what we needed. Working with Hamari has been a really positive experience. They worked brilliantly as an extension of our own company and delivered an e-commerce site that we are absolutely delighted with.
