What is Stibo Systems?

Stibo is one of the world's most recognized Master Data Management (MDM) systems. The platform offers out-of-the-box capabilities that take product information management (PIM) to the next level. Unlike most solutions, Stibo provides an integrated suite of Master Data Management tools, including Product and Customer MDM, Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), and Product Data Syndication (PDS). Delivered through a single platform.

According to Gartner, Forrester, and IDC reports, Stibo is a leading MDM and PIM Platform. With Stibo, you can remove siloed data by aggregating product and master data. All this is done in a single cloud-native SaaS or on-premise solution.

What is Stibo used for?

Stibo PIM allows businesses to create a centralized source of high-quality product data. Stibo offers increased collaboration, improved syndication, and a keen focus on governance. As an MDM platform with a powerful PIM system, Stibo provides an enterprise solution that uses high-quality data as a competitive differentiator. Stibo allows enterprises to create, manage and share a single version of truth for product data. With this, product managers can streamline planning, time-to-market, speed onboarding, and more.

Unlike most best-of-breed PIM solutions like Akeneo, Stibo is also an MDM. MDM is a process for collecting and managing an organization’s business data (customer database, financial, legal, and more). It involves the creation and maintenance of a central repo of master data used for data governance.

Who uses Stibo PIM?

Reviews from leading brands in various industries show that StiboSTEP is one of the best systems for product data management. 14 out of the Fortune 100 companies and 6 of the top 10 retailers worldwide trust Stibo to provide bespoke data management.

These companies include:

  • M&S: Marks and Spencers Group plc (M&S) is a British multinational retailer. The company deals in various product catalogs, including clothing, furniture, beauty, food, and more.  The company employs over 80,000 staff worldwide. After using Stibo, the company has a single source of product data and automated processes for launching products on its site.

  • Mason Companies, inc: Mason Company is a family-owned multi-channel retailer. The company is a world market leader in footwear apparel. After using Stibo MDM and PIM, the company has onboarded more products faster. Over the past 3 years, the company has onboarded over one million SKUs and improved general data quality.

  • Kellogg: Kellogg is an American multinational food manufacturing brand. After implementing the Stibo system’s product information management solution, the company has been able to replace old legacy systems and uncountable spreadsheets. With Stibo, Kellogg can now organize and control their branding internationally.

The example screenshot above shows how to set up tooltips for each product attribute in the master data management to let users know what value to enter. The user can also access a wiki page with additional details on the attribute (when, what, who created it, and more.). Every attribute has a defined type, such as text, item number, or list of values. Each type also has associated attribution validation rules, such as min-max values, maximum characters, etc.

Unlike other solutions, the master data management alerts the user with a color code. This prevents them from saving the item if a value does not comply with the attribute validation.

Data Management Accelerator for Retail

This Stibo solution is an easy-to-implement, cloud-based PIM solution. It is for core retail data made for quick time to value. This solution comes with preconfigured workflows, business rules, and dashboards. The data models assist retailers in acquiring, managing, and sharing trusted product data. Some of its benefits include integrated data onboarding, a centralized data repository, preconfigured workflows, and built-in retail best practices. This solution is unique to Stibo, as most solutions don’t include this.

Product Data Exchange Syndication

Stibo PDX ensures that it is easy for brands and manufacturers to share concise, channel-optimized product data and content with retailers. As well as data pools and content service providers. This cloud-based product data syndication platform (Stibo) uses retail integrations and machine learning to collect product information once and deliver it to all necessary touchpoints. Its features include an intuitive dashboard, data capture and validation, compliance monitoring, channel configuration, and data catalogs.

Supplier Master Data Management

Stibo supplier MDM enables you to create a single and trusted view of your suppliers and their products. This makes room for increased savings and efficiencies. You can now increase the speed of supplier and product data onboarding. Its features include supplier onboarding, single supplier view, self-service capability, and supplier compliance.

Stibo List of Features

Stibo Systems offers a comprehensive suite of tools and services to help businesses effectively manage and optimize their product information and data assets.

As product data is continuously shared and updated, it can lose more than 15% of its accuracy and quality. This can lead to questionable data and business decisions.

Let's examine how some of the Stibo PIM features solve this problem.

Data Sourcing

Stibo PIM allows organizations to collect and onboard correct, up-to-date information from various internal and external resources. Stibo data sourcing options include an integrated import manager for improved onboarding through Smartsheets, supplier item Web UI, and GDSN subscriptions. With these tools, you can ingest data flexibly. These guarantees that data is accessible for efficient utilization within business procedures.

Workflows

A workflow can represent actual work processes within a company, helping businesses manage and streamline tasks among different groups, users, and system activities. It includes states that an object or task can be in, the legal transitions between those states, and the events that trigger them. The workflow may involve assets, services, people, products, or other elements being transferred from one state to another.

STEP Workflows focus on data and involve a relationship between a workflow definition and an object in the STEP database. An object can be part of multiple workflows at the same time, and each workflow instance does not affect the others.

In addition to the core features of STEP Workflow, several supplementary functionalities enhance its capabilities for optimizing processes and maintaining product data quality:

  1. Admins can set up dashboards to monitor snapshots and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) in the workflow. This allows for a quick and comprehensive assessment of critical product data points throughout the workflow process.

  2. Deadlines and escalation actions can be configured in the workflow to ensure tasks are completed promptly.

  3. In the workflow, you set up product data views tailored for each state, enabling actors to concentrate solely on the data pertinent to their assigned tasks. This customization ensures that actors have access to the relevant information needed for their specific responsibilities within the workflow, enhancing their productivity and effectiveness.

Setting up STEP workflows is a manual process that involves the following:

  • Creating a new workflow.

  • Creating states in a workflow.

  • Creating transitions between states.

  • Adding events to transitions.

  • Setting assignees.

  • Setting validity.

  • Setting workflow options.

Septane Stibo-step notes explain this process in a more detailed manner.

Translation Capabilities

STEP facilitates translating diverse product data types, including product data, using language-driven contexts that allow multiple translations of a single STEP object. This enables objects to be translated into multiple languages while retaining all translated data and inter-language connections in the core object.

Data Integration

A comprehensive product master data policy requires all data touchpoints to be aligned with the system of record. Stibo's product Master Data Management (MDM) solution can act as the main repository for this data and as the source of information and content for other systems and apps. A good example of how Stibo helps with Data integration is its Connectivity Gallery feature.

Stibo Connectivity Gallery was developed to ensure the smooth sharing of product data using a variety of add-ons and built-in third-party integrations. This feature unlocks huge benefits for companies looking to access their master data in a single source of truth. Some of the benefits include:

  • Gathering data from various outdated systems and consolidating it in a central location.

  • Information synchronization using high-level data publishing tools and more.

Examples of connectors from the connector gallery include Acrolinx Integration, Amazon SQS connector, Ariba CIF Export Format, and more.

Data Modelling and Governance

Stibo Product MDM utilizes data modelling, roles, workflows, business rules, and controls to effectively allow you to control and oversee data use, management, and sharing within a business environment.  It includes machine learning-based auto-classification and strong mapping capabilities to link products to different categorized structures, domains, entities, and assets. It offers precise reference terms to improve decision-making and produce superior business results.

Unlike many traditional PIM solutions, Product MDM allows users to implement and enforce policies from scratch, giving them complete control of product data. Product MDM offers additional modelling and governance features to cater to specific industry requirements.

DAM

Stibo, in fact, has a great DAM solution that ensures data accuracy and content quality. It has incredible features for data improvement, such as error handling/data validation features that help you catch errors easily.

The integrated DAM feature allows you to organize, store and retrieve poorly structured content. The solution previews the labels before you apply them to content, allowing you to protect your assets' legal title, credibility, and patents. Additionally, it has tools that make managing images and content easier, including an adaptor for Adobe Experience Manager (AEM). Stibo product MDM offers features like image meta-tagging and image deduplication, search and filter, import and acquisition, and more.

Data Sharing and Syndication

Stibo product MDM offers a PDX syndication feature, a cloud-based solution perfect for exchanging data and content that complies with channel specifications or specialized data standards. Updating product information and enforcing product governance now becomes easier using bi-directional messaging with data receivers.

With PDX, you do not have to worry about connections to content service providers (CSPs) like Edgenet, and 1WorldSync, as this is part of the Stibo product syndication offering.

Manufacturers can upload certain products, information, and photographs to an online catalog using PDX Syndication's digital catalog and grant merchants access when necessary.
